Bov question
i have a hks..a real one.. friend of mine had a hks look a like.. couldnt ever at all no matter what get the thing to goo off. the bov just wouldnt open.. not to metion the outter cover was plastic unlike the real one thats metal. and i've seen the look a like greddy typeS not work either .. and the typeS has a sound no other BOV could Have. so really theres def something differently there doing when making them.
well all of the knock offs I have had have worked just fine. I had a ebay style rfl that worked better then my tial 50mm did. you do know you can adjust them if needed right?
also aren't you running cast pistons on forged rods? I wouldn't say thats a do it once type of build.

yes i do know they can be adjusted. thats common sense. . its for sure a do it once build. i hate using forged pistons on a stock sleeved motor. if you know how to build a motor and have a great tuner like mine there are no worries!!

91ef, do you pull alot of ***** with your mad tight $25k civic? I know all the girlys love the ef's, I bet you take them home to your bunk bed (when mommy and daddy aren't home) and try to play spin the bottle huh.
how much is your allowance?
I bet you really get off on talking down about other peoples cars because you are just sooo much cooler huh. get real man. if you don't have respect for people who build their own cars then you must not respect building cars in the first place. I bet that 25k is probably paid to a shop to have them do everything for you. nerd.

My allowance is more than your paycheck a week.! My parents love me, OH and i like the blue manifold on your car. it sets it off hahahahaha loser. by the way i like my bunk beds, theres so much more space for activities.
Wow simple question turns into pissing contest EF91 are you kidding me its an ED first of all.......Its nice that you can spend all your money on your civic while the rest of us are actually leading productive lives where we take care of our families work etc etc. Dont take this as a stab because that is not what it is. This is information you have put out just in this thread from the look of it your a spoiled kid lacking attention..........
As for the gist of this entire thread I would really like a comparison of the CDM versions of some of these BOV. It is to my understanding that most of them are ok if hooked up correctly. Im no fan of ebay parts but have owned a CDM SSQV and it performed great never had a issue with it.

Im with you^
boosted ef is such a tool, I feel dumber argueing with him lol.
all I was asking for was an even side by side comparison between the two instead of outlandish threats of the possible catastrophe that may occur when not buying brand name parts.
some people act like they have never seen a tial w.g. fail.
and CDM is catchy. I like that

I will start with real life comparison that I have had.
turbo xs RFL (real)
cost: $130 shipped
I had this bov on my eagle talon tsi I had back in the day (bought it to make money on)
appearance: 8/10
quality machining, nice finish, everything fit good, turbo xs decal was kinda cheezy though
mechanics: 8/10
worked well for diverting boost to combat compressor surge, a little too loud
overall: good buy for a nice piece but the money could have been spent else were.
ebay style RFL:
cost:$40 shipped with adapter.
appearance: 6.5/10
bov horn's threads were gritty feeling when screwing in, overall finish looked somewhat cheap, def appeared to be a knock off.
mechanics: 8/10
slid well onto adapter, came with vacuum line and nice metal T's for hooking up, also came with washers to run as a spacer to increase spring tension.
overall: Chinese finish but working product, gets the job done very cost effectively but won't win any car shows (unlike 91ef)
TIAL 50mm bov silver:
cost: retail $250, I bought mine used for $100
appearance: 9/10
very nice unit, def one of the more baller pieces Iv ever had
mechanics: 6/10
worked ok, bov sound wasn't very audible but could be due to bad vac source, ripped the rubber O ring in it and couldn't find a local one to replace it so I had a boost leak for a week
overall: great for people who like to brag about having nice parts or money spent on their car but for the average joe building a budget car its not anything you will need. save the money and buy a better manifold or fuel system.
ebay dual rs style bov's
cost: 80 with flange
appearance: 8/10
I think that the two bov's look pretty cool and its the first thing people comment on with my setup. they look like some one red wheeled them with scotch bright to get the finish on the metal. the allen bolts that hold them to the flange 3 of the 4 total lined up perfect, the fourth one went in cross threaded because the holes were miss aligned but it still holds it in very tight.
mechanics: 9/10
works great, absolutely no compressor surge even at very small partial throttle shifting in light boost. I believe the reason they work so good is the vacuum block I made for my setup, its a vacuum manifold from a 84-87 civic and you can find them at your local junk yard, gives it a good source to pull vac off without harming any thing elses source like fpr, map sensor..etc
hope that this review will be of use to some one and that people who haven't had first hand experiences with these parts don't but in.
