Default Chinese knock off bov's.

Not much of a tech thread or anything, but more of a rant.

I'm trying to piece together a kit for a buddy of mine and he stated that he wanted an HKS blow off valve. So I thought what the hell, first place I'll check would be ebay. And behold... the newest version of the HKS ver.2 bov knockoff.

Here's my authentic one for reference.

It looks so much identical to the authentic one, some poor sap would probably fall for it.

"Omgz, I spent $75 shipped for a brand new HKS knock off BOV and it works. I'm so bummed because it's not straight from Japan. I'm just going to have to off myself because I'm not super JDM!"

It's not that, I'm sure there's people who would scam other people, making them think that they bought authentic ones when in fact they're fake.

That looks stupid. Both the original and fakie.

Looks like robo-cops butthole. Why do people want their BOV to look like a transformer?

Geez, some people actually buy it because its one of the few that pull the valve into the pressurized zone, rather than away. It also supposedly has a small & large valve. Although its a better concept, some people still complained the old one leaked and/or opened slow.

Given what I've seen regarding cookie-cutter copies, I think I'd only buy that from a BIG vendor. We already know there are virtually identical Walbro and Bosch fuel pumps, and that some small-timers make big money selling as the real thing. So either thats a really good copy, or your genuine is one of the unofficial clones...

Its good to see posts like this, since there are so few ways to tell some clones apart from the real thing. That BOV has very few differences though.

Wow, I came in here half expecting some kind of intelligent comparison.

If they both work, who the hell cares?

Well, no one forced you to click the thread, nor is anyone holding you at gun point.

I used a knock off GReddy "R" a while.... the thing was leaking like crazy, the piston was not sealing at all, and the membrane was cracking...

I'd just buy a real one the first time instead of going the cheap route and having to buy a real one when the fake goes in the bin, like i did.
