Default Bov question

Hi guys, I am currently getting a turbo set up for my car. I am looking for a bov and would like the hks ssq. I have found a couple on here for sale used for around 180-200. New about 260-280. Now I was looking on eBay, and generally I do t like getting performance parts from there but I found one for 160 brand new shipped.

Site:
http://iphone.ebay.com/Pages/ViewIte...%20bov&emvcc=0

so I was wondering if anyone has had experence buying one of there and if it's worth it or if I should just get one from a dealer.

...And when your turbo starts to have reversion because the air can't be properly vented from a failed "knock off", you can call cooljnateman to help get you another turbocharger because of his well articulated and expert advice. ;-)

... And when the casting splits in half on the dyno and parts go through the motor, take that $200 bucks you saved and start your rebuild. True story.

some people like to spend 200, some people like to spend 60.

my ebay blow of valves (yes there are two) do an awesome job, I have had real tial's and Iv had a real RFL but what it comes down to is getting a good vacuum source, so take that money saved and buy a nice vacuum block.

its not all about brand names, were not in a popularity contest in highschool.

I dont feel like leaving it to chance. ill just get the legit on and a vacum block. I dont have a problem with spending money when it comes to my baby. Although the ebay one might work I dont feel like leaving 20% chance its going to fail. just what I have concluded.

its a valve and a spring. not really one of the complex things but like I said earlier. there are some people that like to spend 200 dollars and there are some people that like to spend 60 dollars.

And with the $200 you get better service and warranty if something goes wrong, while with the $60. good bye (and buy) and good luck.

There are some reasons WHY we spend a little more to do what is considered to be "simple". Otherwise EVERYONE could just make one, and not buy it at all. 20% is 20% risk.

Good choice.

boostedef91 you come off as very ignorant and arrogant. just because something is cheap doesn't mean it wont work. just because you buy $20 jeans at old navy doesn't mean that the second you walk out of the store they fall apart does it? I understand that the actual quality of real brand name parts is much better, but for a budget build on a civic I don't see any need for a 5000 dollar setup.

if having super nice parts makes you feel like your the man, then cool. but were Im from if you can set something up for cheap that makes good power and is reliable. then why not.
even If I do get beat in a race some one and they beat me, they beat a stock $200 ls longblock with a ebay turbo kit.

to the shodan, I respect you and know you have great knowledge on turbo setups, but Im wondering why you would say such bad things about ebay bov's. Id love to see a side by side comparison with an unbiased view on the mechanics of both.

like I said, Iv had a two tial 50mm's, a rfl and a few ebays and there isn't really a difference between them besides when I run them to a good vacuum source. I don't see any "my stupid ebay bov doesn't work" threads, I do however remember some member having alot of problems with a synapse bov on here leaking boost a while back.

and even IF there is a %20 fail rate (not sure of where these statistics were found...) for a part that costs 25% of the other parts price it seems only logical to buy two ebay bov's and save your self %50...

just a thought.

sorry if I come off as a dick, I would just like some real proof of why they work or don't work instead of people repeating what they hear on here and say all ebay parts are junk which I find just isn't true.

lets let the facts due the talking.

I must say your build thread is very nice.

I would like to see a real side by side comparison of a ebay bof vs a brand name tial, greddy, synapse..etc.

if any one thinks they could do that.

i'm not ignorant as stated.. i just say it how it is. i've had a ebay bov once. and it didnt work half as well as a real one. it never opened properly. there just not built with technonogy and tested. the diaphragms in them are cheap and there just made cheap. when building something i try to make it a one and done thing.. not having to buy something twice. and most people make the mistake of buying ebay.. breaking it.. then spending money on the better product anyways.
