Default Boring with the block in the car?

Someone at work told me it can be done, some kind of special tooling or whatever, was he pulling my leg?

I wouldn't trust something like that. I have any motors bored on a Sunnen line bore machine... very precise, and very straight bores. Shortcuts on an engine lead back to going back, and doing it the long way again...

Don't take shortcuts on your engine!

If your bores aren't straight and uniform, you get premature wear, and it won't seal properly and most likely, if performance minded, will blow up quickly.
