Pulling Out Block
I am going to pull my block tomorrow and I need to know which way is easier. I will be following exactly what the helms manual says.
I JUST NEED THE BLOCK.
1. Pull the head, then pull the block.
OR
2. Pull the engine and then pull the block from there.
Which is easier to do?
If you say number 2 please tell me how I can work on a engine once i pull it out. Can I set it on the ground of something?

I can't exactly tell you which method of pulling your engine would be easier, but I can tell you how to work on your engine. Go to your local automotive store(Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc.) and buy an engine stand. They cost like $70 for a 1000lbs stand and they rotate 360 degrees so you can rotate your block to make working on it easier. But just to put in my 2 cents... I would say 1 is going to be easier. It may be more work, but if you don't have a cherry picker to pull your engine out with, good luck pulling out both your block and your head together. They aren't exactly the lightest things in the world. But if you do have a cherry picker(engine hoist) I would say go with 2, that way you have the engine out in the open and have more room to work on your engine. I may be completely wrong, but that's just my thought on it. Good luck with the pull.
