boosting stock d16y8
i need a little help building my car, im getting ready to order the turbo kit but what size stuff should i be getting im only gonna run say 5-7psi cause i am running on stock y8 internals
I think what he's trying to say is if you look in the forced induction section you are less likely to get smart a$$ed answers.
No. I'm being rather blunt. Not smart-assed. His first post and he's asking questions that should have been researched already. He going to order a turbo kit but asking about "what sized stuff"? What the heck does that even mean?
When I wanted to boost I spent nearly 8 months reading, researching and piecing my kit together. You won't find a single post in my history asking about how to do it. The info is already out there. Not just on HT. Especially if you don't even plan to build the engine. Then what about after the turbo is on? Plan on upgrading the clutch, the exhaust and possibly suspension and mounts. Didn't hear about engine management either.
OP. Do your research before you start asking already answered questions.

I was gonna ask what your budget was but I don't think I'll feed this thread. Research more.

...and maybe its just me but I wouldnt be comfortable going FI unless I personally researched every aspect myself and had an extreme grasp on the whole concept. It's not a learn as you go type thing. You will end up wasting alot of money and blowing **** up like that.

It's just frustrating...some of the questions on here are usually like...hey I'm having these symptoms that could be caused by several different things what are some ways to check...ok cool...even after google you realize there are many different things and different ways to attack it you'd just like to know the best, possibly cheapest way to do things.
Topics like these have endless answers and all boil down to research and as mentioned above power goals and driving type, with budget in mind no matter what.
5-7 PSI doesn't really mean much of anything without turbo size no matter what internals you have.
Decent helpful advice...find out what type of driving you'll be doing, set a power goal...determine a budget...research other builds similar to what you'll be doing...research the basics on how FI systems work...find a local tuner and talk to him about what he will be most comfortable tuning on to get the best results, see if he has any advice *don't ask him a million stupid questions*...build a "kit"...and then go to the FI section to ask more specific questions once you dive into things and encounter problems. Keep in mind alot of people get "the itch" and want more and more power after they get into FI. Do it right the first time, learn that some parts you can cheap out on and some parts you most definitely don't want to. Good luck with the build. Don't blow anything up...in the event that you do, sell me your y8 manifold I would like another one
Good day.

this thread is full of lolz
the only fail part about this thread is the lack of pics when the melt down came
Yeah H-T members are very jumpy when u ask certain questions that they feel you should have researched already. Regardless you need to at least state goals that you want to reach. Like whp / tq numbers. You also need to take into account what type of driving you will be doing most. Example: daily driving, street strip, strictly track use. After you answer all those questions you can then research other builds to see what it takes to reach different power levels. Youtube dyno videos of d16's and look for dyno graphs with setup info.
