Default Boosting a d14a4

Hey everyone new to this site. My names Jamie and I live in Ireland. In Ireland theres very little info and very little boosted honda's around so its hard to source parts and get info and advice. So I decided I'd give this a bash and Im going to take a stepping stone and Boost my Civic 1.4!!

Very little people have done this and very little info so any advice and experience would be grateful.

I'm boosting stock internals as a d14a4 engine sell for about €100 so there cheap and worth a shot.
I hear the d14's have shorter rods and dont see as much angle so the rod to stroke ratio is less than d16's making them rev out alot more and take it. Some americans say the bottom ends are safe for 170ish hp.

Im using a tdo4 turbo and I have the option of a reconditioned t25 aswell. I will decide later.

Have all the gear there it. Only thing I need is oil feed and return kits.

But before I do anything I have to swap from SFi to Obd2. I have sourced and ek3 loom. Need to source ek3 dizzy and I have sourced a bare d15b obd1 intake manifold. I need to source some sensors like IAVC and TA sensors and ****. Then some injectors and I should be ready to rock. Oh and a new headgasket!!

This is the base model I'm starting off with. Its my first car and im only 18

thanks for looking

Well i know for a fact that the D14 A4 has a steel head gasket for stock and it costs about 90 euros here in finland. You could probably get it from a normal part store. It can handle about 0.4-0.6 Bar of boost and it is a 3 layer gasket.

And you can go with the stock ecu for start. Just get an 2-3:1 boost fuel pressure regulator and keep the boost at 0.3BAR your engine is capable of handling it and it will get you started.

Horrible advice. Absolutely horrible. We were using FMU hacks back in the 90's because they were the only option we had, short of spending tens of thousands of dollars on completely custom tuning solutions. Today, you can get a professional tune for $500, or spend the same money on the hardware to do it yourself, if you're inclined to learn.

That being said, you have multiple directions you can go, but you need to choose carefully - start in one direction, and you'll need to stick to it, or you'll just be throwing money away. If you decide to stick with a small engine like that, the smaller the turbo, the better. Get something that'll put you around 160 WHP, have some fun, get some crazy gas mileage (especially with the stupid gas prices out there), and have some fun with it!

Well everybody tunes at their own style but its kinda funny that you come and start "advicing" on 2 years old post ONLY after someone who just wants to help. Comes and gives some advice. We have a large variety of knowledge here and i think that this post should have been answered by some one years ago.

Coming from the fuckstain who bumped a 3 year old thread...why the actual **** did you think that would be a good idea? Never do that. I don't care what your "excuse" is. Don't do it.
