Default boosted sohc timing question

ok so ive got a z6 block, y8 head.....and i used a z6 timing belt, and the y8 cam gear.....my timing is a half tooth off and is overly advanced. even with the dizzy adjusted all the way retarted its still advanced (gotta get a new timing cover to know how much)......it runs fine but my main question is......when i boost it here soon im going to run turboedit or something along those lines, if i retard the timing via the ecu will that cover my bases? or will the valves opening and closing ahead of time have any bad effects? i would asume a loss of power but other than that? i just want some opinions.....thanks

If your cam timing is SO far off that you can't the ignition timing to 17BTDC or whatever your car is, then you have some serious problems. That distributor easilly swings 10 degrees advance AND retard. Figure out your problem and get a cam gear to zero it all out if you need to. You are going to want a good stock refference to tune off of. Try to get things set up like stock then make changes from your baseline.

i understand all of that, and plan to do so, but i have a shitty situation with my tensioner pully bolt, basically its pretty sketchy to take it out again......so till i get a new block would i have any huge issues? i know i would have a harder time with tuning, but is it possible?

well you'd better figure out if you're advanceing it or retarding it so far.

one way you risk detonation,
other way you'll just be really rich. which isn't the best thing, but not the end of the world.
