Default about to buy this boosted accord, need advice on a specific...

question

the seller said the following: "the downpipe is too small, so it doesnt' hold the boost to the highest rpms"

what does this mean and does this make sense? when i asked him to elaborate he said "too much horse basically" + "and the turbo would be efficient for 13+ psi"

does this make any sense?

Personally I would never buy a Turbo honda... You never know how much stress they put the car through for one thing, And why is the person selling it?
but the turbo could be losing boost in the higher RPM's due to a possible boost leak, Turbo not big enough for the application, or the exhaust manifold is a poor design.

i'd say the same, almost.

do a compression check, check for exhaust leaks, check for possible leaks in the charge pipes.

how big is the downpipe?

i'm a boosted accord, 17psi on stock F23 block 2.5in downpipe and this is on a drag kit w/AEM EMS. i hold boost weather it be 7psi, 10psi, 15psi, or 17psi. check for leaks!

he claims its a 2'' downpipe

how would an exhuast leak cause this?

I could see it possibly having some probs with a 2" DP...pretty tiny. It also would depend what turbo is on it, also. Check the oil, and do a compression test. It sounds stupid, but if I look at a car and the oil level isn't perfect, I assume the person didn't keep tabs on their car like they should have. I always keep my oil level right at the top dot on the dipstick...I also check my oil about every damn day. Good luck

This is actually my car. Compression is 150 across all 4, oil level is perfect. I'm confident its the downpipe.

Good car.

Rode in it when my buddy Brian had it (he was the one to turbo it, Accord94DX). Car ran great at 8 psi I believe? It had a Hallman boost controller, and was working fine. Not sure about the 150 comp. though, what have you done to that thing?
