Default boosted h22 overheating

ok. before, the car used to overheat when the a/c was on. i thought maybe the turbo was too close to the rad / fans / condensor and everything was getting heat soaked. so i replaced the radiator and fan setup and it gave me about an inch more room. Great! a thicker radiator and a couple of high cfm fans + more room. now the car overheats anytime at a stand still. no probs when driving. i've already replaced the fan switch and thermo to mugen about 10k ago. water pump was done about 10k ago w/ t belt. i decided to add one more fan pushing in front of the condensor where the turbo is. the car still overheats, but only up to about the 3/4 mark. if at a stand still and i rev the motor, i can see the needle start to go down. i decided to bleed the coolant... nothing. nothing comes out. i can take the bleeder bolt all the way out, and nothing. there's plenty of coolant in both rad and overflow. both hoses are hot. is it the thermo?

Sounds to me like the headgasket is shot. A tell tale sign is the overflow tank will overflow when you are boosting.

Also, ditch that mugen thermo and replace it with an OEM one.

Replace the thermostat and rebleed the system. Also check the ground wires on the tranmission and underneath the thermostat housing. Make sure what temperature the computer is reading, don't always rely on the gauges.

I had a similar problem where the gauge would read hot, but Crome read normal and if I accelerated the gauge would go to normal then back up. It was a missing ground wire.

interesting, unlikely tho considering the car wont even start with either of those grounds not hooked up as mine did.

lol i guess. a missing ground and throw alot of things out of whack (my car wouldnt start at all) but i guess it differs from car to car.

Try water wetter and water and shimming your hood up to help the hot air escape easier.

yup hood idea is good. BTW, its a cowl induction, it brings in cool air, dosent expel air.

i always use that.

also as far as grounds go...they make a big difference. i dont have any of the factory ones, so when i put this new engine in, i grounded the tranny w/0 gage wire, which is huge, and another 8 gage on the starter. thought that would be enough. well car started and ran fine, but the gage was reading hot! changed everything and no luck. did a compression test and was perfect...added a 8 gage ground to the thurmo housing, and a 8 gauge to the valve cover and hasnt read hot since!!! mine was the 3rd case in a few weeks that thought we were overheating and it was bad grounds in the prelude forum...

well he needs to check if water is in his oil...and do a compression test...honestly i was starting to think that was my problem before i tried the grounds

I've had a few cars that yielded great compression results but yet had toasted headgaskets. Both of these cars did not have oil in the coolant either.

overheating has been pretty random. like every other day. changed fan relay. has not overheated in 2 days. keeping fingers crossed. coolant is clean. will change oil to check oil. hope its not hg.motor was built about 8k ago. never revved past 6k. been at 7lbs. since. only started overheating recently.
