Default Boosted GSR

So I plan to boost my GSR after I get tax return money, a reimbursement scholarship, and refunds from my financial aid. I've been looking at a few different turbos and have tried to search but can't sift between all the **** posts and the good posts. So does anyone have any experience with any of the following turbos? Will be going on a stock GSR and I don't want to crack the engine open just yet. Shooting for around 300HP with a good tune, want a decently fast spool time, and want to be able to make power in upper RPMs. I've looked through the POST YOUR GSR HP NUMBERS thread and am seeing what other guys with stock GSRs have been doing. But not much more than numbers and setups.

The first candidate is the Precision 5431
http://realstreetperformance.com/sto...ring-1943.html. I was thinking about probably getting the .63 ar. The little info I could find about it was that people liked it for a budget turbo, but how will it perform on a B18C?

Next would be a GT28RS AKA disco potato
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...S_739548_1.htm
They show options for a .64 ar. Also heard a lot of good about this one and people say they see 300+- on a stock internal GSR. I don't know if I want to pay $1200 bucks for a turbo though. So if I could find one for cheaper, then it'd be a more sensible option than the 5431 because its BB.

Another on my list of course is the Turbonetics T3/T4 50 trim.
http://www.turboneticsinc.com/t3-t4b_turbochargers
Obvious reason why I guess. Seems there's tons of guys running them. But I'd like to know experience first hand.

GT30 is the next turbo that comes to mind. Obvious reasons are its a Garret. Ball bearing. Proven.

Any experience with any of these turbos is welcomed, dyno sheets, strip times, complete setup, etc.

Thanks,
Sawyer

if you want a fast spool and and just limit yourself to 300ish whp i would highly recomend just to get a t3/4 .50 matched with a gsr motor is lots of fun your not really going to make your power in the upper rpms but you will hit your goal rather quickly.

the shodan im sure could pick a good match for you.

from my personal experience i would recommend you get somethin a little larger just so later on if you decide you want more power you dont have to dish out 1 g for another turbo.

talk to your local tuner and see what he reccomends also.

Fast spool and 300whp?

Shouldnt be an issue

Disco Potato, Super 60, or even a 5557 will get you there

.50 (then .57-trim when I went 84.5mm) kept me happy for nine years.

Have 3076R now. I like it better, but not sure I like it $500 more better.

I loved both of my 50 trims I used (Precision SC-5031 .63 a/r & Borg Warner T3/T04B .55 a/r). Very responsive turbo, and a 300 whp goal puts the turbo right in its sweet spot, efficiency wise, and it's easy on your wallet too.

That's true. FOR ALL that have been listed. But you have to first ask yourself what the true purpose of the car is. Ball-bearing systems with the right wheel design are excellent for driving in a abused environment like circuit and endurance racing. For street/strip needs, its not as necessary, but you do as you wish. Just remember. As much as I like (and even design) billet wheels, just remember that for many needs, cast wheels are just fine for the user

300whp? if the funds allow, 3076r with a 63hotside. I currently have it on my car and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. super quick spool, and i may be a ricer at heart but I love the sound when its spooling up. How ever, a 57 trim will do you just fine as its cheaper and pretty much like the 30r

The car will be mostly street. Will frequent the strip in the summer. But I won't be very hardcore about it. Probably first Friday Street Legals ever month and maybe 2 or 3 test and tune days. Will probably see auto-x duty as well. So I was figuring journal.

So should I stick with a housing around .63 ar?
