Default Boosted b18c1 help

Hi so I’m building a b18c1 out of my 98 gsr, my bearing clearances are good my bore taper is good and the egging to the bore isn’t too extreme piston rings are perfect piston to wall clearence is good and I have a rod bolt stretch gauge to measure myself. All those measurements and clearences are good is there’s any others clearences I should be aware of?(on the block) I know piston to valve clearence but anything in the crank? All I did was bearing clearence on the crank am I missing anything? I want a reliable 500hp b series, it has skunk2 rods wise I pistons stock crank acl bearings skunk 2 valves springs retainers and blox racing stage 3 cams w new rockers, thanks

500 HP ??? You didn't mention having either a CSS or Sleeved block... and you likely have too much camshaft for a turbocharged engine.

I have neither a sleeved block or css and I’m not gonna run a block guard, I’ve heard it will hold 500hp without either maybe I’m wrong?

500whp is pushing it for stock sleeves. In fact I believe I remember people saying 450whp was

I have never seen a stock block live at this power level.

I have seen a LOT more fail at 400 wheel HP than live... pressing to 450 or even 500 wheel HP makes survival even more rare.

300hp is the cutoff for reliability with stock block

I would say that is a safe target for a turbocharged engine... you can do more with the linear delivery of supercharged power.

I think that without much driving pressure and without a lot of useless low rpm torque the stock sleeves will be ok for 450 whp. IMO use a large turbo for 700-800 hp, good 9.5:1 forged Pistons, stronger rods and low pressure (10psi) and everything will go well. Don't forget to measure the piston ring gap and do nice honing before installing the new pistons.

I also think along these lines. I do think 500whp is a wish and a dream though. It would last but would 100% be a ticking time bomb.

Whats the point in having a laggy setup at 500whp when a nice responsive 350whp setup would be faster

That's a really good point. I had an oversized turbo on a 5.0 back in the day. I always wish I had downsized to have a better powerband.

Because I gotta make 500 HP... and safely rev the engine up to 10K RPM... and I have seen this done on stock parts in multiple YouTube videos...
