B18C1 Bearing Questions
Just got my block back from the machine shop. Had it bored to 81.5mm and honed micropolished and balanced the crank and cleaned the block. Im new to sizing bearings and all so I had the machine shop mic the crank and he gave me the measurements. Can anyone help me decipher what they mean? Also I went with Wiseco pistons and he told me the rings were all set at 12000ths and if I wanted them dif to let him know and he could file them. What should I be looking for on my ring spacing?
Individual main bearings on the crank all check out the same and he wrote STD size on all
Rod bearings are as follows:
#1 1.771
#2 1.771
#3 1.771
#4 1.7707
Thanks for the help. I really want to order these bearing asap so I can start getting this build going

Re: B18C1 Bearing Questions
i just built my b18c bottom end using wiseco pistons, left the rings as they were. depends on your application ie is it a track car, are you running NOS etc mine is a street car so i left them as they were.. also had my crank polished and using stock sized ACL bearings. you only need different sized bearings if you have had the crankshaft reground..
if your crankshaft is still stock ie. not been reground then you will need standard size bearings, wether it be honda or ACL etc is down to you buddy

Re: B18C1 Bearing Questions
I just had the crank micropolished. He gauged it and said it was within spec for stock size bearings. But the rod bearings were checked and the specs were listed above. He said they were also within spec. I was planning on running oem honda bearings. Anyone know what the deal is with the stampings on the block and crank telling you what color honda bearings to order? As fas as the ring end gap I believe he just left that at what they came and it was 12000ths? I plan on making 400hp with turbo no NOS?

Re: B18C1 Bearing Questions
those numbers are the rod journal size. you need to mic the rod journal on the crank, set that mic in a vice or something after its set to your number, then get a bearing, install it in a rod, torque it, then mic it.. after that, you check your rod bearing mic against your rod journal mic, and you will see the clearance #
if you have all the tools to do the job, its not hard, but its tedious getting it all done. its a lengthy process.
as for your rings, you might want to get them opened up. the rpm/heat will kill them & your cyl walls with that tight of a clearance.

he did get those measurements for the rod journals on the crank. He looked in a book and said there were standard size bearings as well.

he measured the rod journal on the crank. Looked in a book and referenced that #. It showed to use standard bearing size. It gave a diff specs for dif bearing sizes. I was there when he did it and I seen it as well.
