hey guys i was driving rather slowly earlier today came almost to a complete stop but the car was still rolling and instead of going into 1st i went into 2nd and press the gas the engine almost stalled out and then it started sputtering and misfiring..instantly it sounded different it now sounds like a subaru (you guys should know that sound am talking about) and it also idles fine just a little rough but you don't hear or feel the misfire until you rev the engine or try to move off you have to rev extra hard or else it shuts off, and i tried to punch it a bit but it is leaning out......i checked my wires and fuel pressure gauge those were still working normal...alright my little 2cents is that the spark plugs got really fouled when i was trying to drive off in that 2nd gear??? Alright let me know...1. What the problem is? 2. What cause it exactly based on the details given (if more info is needed please let me know)? and 3. How to go about fixing it??, Really need to fix it have to drive like 8 hours to go bck to my job in the next couple days so yeah!!! Thanks in advance guys!!

 

unplug the distributor and do a compression test.

that's step one

also pull the cap and make sure the rotor screw didn't come loose where you have rotor wobble

 

Thanks guys changed the plugs went and got some NGK Iridium and got valve cover gasket kit as well....the plugs in there were covered in oil especially the one in the the 2nd cylinder...it run great now!!!

 

How much boost? How much power are you making? Iridium's might not be the best choice. What heat range did you get?

 

If the plugs were covered in oil then something is not right. Changing the spark plugs isnt going to fix the problem. Youre only putting a bandaid on it by putting fresh plugs in. there is a good chance the problem willl return

 

i was thinking same thing but its on low boost about 10 psi and i've never seen so much boost about 7psi the most, i don't drive hard and i don't race so i pretty much baby it! Its the NGK IX heat range is 6 tho...??
