boost problem!!!
i have a greddy boost gauge and it's not reading any boost....everything is hooked up, but no boost reading. i hear the turbo spooling up and the BOV going off but no increase in psi? it goes from vacuum readings to 0 and won't go any higher. BTW i have a b16a with a profec B and all settings are turned down. I'm stumped...i checked all the vacuum lines and everything is tight.....TIA
the turbo is in perfect condition. i hear the turbo spooling but the boost gauge just goes from vacuum to zero and stops. also i just hear the wastegate open up and the car stops pulling. i hear the blow-off valve going off in between shifts......but the way i hooked up my vacuum hoses was the top port went to the out on the greddy box and the side port went to the intake manifold (tapped the brake booster line) and then hooked the barbed fitting that was on the turbo to the in on the greddy box. of course, i then hooked up the profec B to the intake manifold.
it means that you're either losing boost in the system somewhere (check all your pipe couplings for looseness/leaks/damage).
OR
your wastegate may be problematic and stuck open not allowing boost to build up.

ok after talking to art a few times on the phone i still cannot fix this problem. i'm able to boost now bit without any control. if i don't let off i could boost whatever i want. right now, i have the side port of the tial hooked up to the "out" on the greddy and the "in" is hooked up to the charge pipe. the top of the tial is left open. all i want to boost is 5-6 psi daily but can't seem to make it hold at this amount....the boost keeps on climbing??? any help?
the way your wastegate and boost controller is hooked up sounds correct. If it just boosts forever when you get on it, it probably means that either your wastegate is stuck closed or it's not seeing the preset amount of boost that it needs in order to slap it open. What spring is in your tial? i'd completely close up the greddy controller and make sure it's fully closed and not fully opened.

little steel ring intalled into the tial?...does make a world of difference!
I must have made your phone bill go way up talking to you yesterday. Maybe when Im in town I can take a look at it..art
Which side of the brake booster line did you connect to? From what I can remember, there was some sort of "Check Valve" on there that allows for vacuum only, and no boost.
My friend had the same problem. It read vacuum only and he reconnected it. Try tapping to the FPR Vacuum line.

i tapped the left side of the brake booster. there's two hoses connected to a plastic "thing" i used the hose that was coming out from the intake manifold. as for the WG, what metal ring are you talking about? i bought the WG used and already attached to the 90 elbow, so i'm not sure if i have the ring or not. i'm boosting it's just WON'T STOP!! i hit 1 bar last night and was scared to drive it again. but knowing me and talking to art about different set-ups....i did. i drove ALOT and boosted about 8 psi and let off b/c i knew it wouldn't stop. what if i set up the profec B to it's original wiring for an external WG and turn up the boost on the profec B? would that have any effect? where's the "art of turbo"

My friend had this problem. We tried everything from adding a boost controller, to replacing wastegate, to replacing vacuum lines, etc..
Do you know what it was?
His freakin stock cat was clogged up. He replaced it with a hi-flo cat and he is happily boostin 1 bar in his rebuilt B16A2.
Bastid is faster than me now! No FAIR!
