Default Boost on GSR engine question........With stock intake manifold.

What happens on a stock GSR intake secondaries when boost is applied to the manifold? Doesn't the butterfly work off vacume? Just one of the weird thoughts I had.

If i'm not mistaken, runners work on a signal from the ECU to open them. Vacuum holds them shut.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by VTC_CiViC &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">If i'm not mistaken, runners work on a signal from the ECU to open them. Vacuum holds them shut.</TD></TR></TABLE>

correct. and there is a vacuum resivior under the intake manifold that provides enough of a vacuum to hold the butterflies closed when the engine is at WOT and under 5700rpm which is the point at which they open.

so even when there is no vacuum in the intake manifold, the intake butterflies will be held closed until 5700rpm at which point the solenoid opens and the vacuum is released and the butterflies snap open.

then when you close the throttle and slow down the vacuum is restored and the butterflies close.
