boost gauge and bov question???
my first question, when i start my car is the boost gauge needle suppose to move or does it just stay still untill i rev to a certain rpm? second question, i have a 50mm tial bov and i was wondering if it was suppose to stay open during idle and close when i give it some throttle?

1. When you start the car the boost gauge is supposed to read -20ish Vac.
2. There is a lot of controversy between the correct answer, when you think logically the BOV is supposed to open to release pressure, but it opens due to there being a vacuum not actual pressure forcing it open. Some stay open some don't, do I know the correct answer no, but I would assume that a open BOV at idle is safer for your turbo internals and TB since it is more sensitive to you letting off the throttle. Some BOV's come with a air filter.

mechanical or electrical gauge?
if its mechanical, make sure the line isnt pinched under the dash somewhere, happened to me once. if its electrical, make sure the solenoid is hooked up and wired correctly.
tial 50mm open at idle is perfectly fine. as you mentioned it closes immediately once you apply the throttle.

does the gauge read vacuum and boost or is it just boost/pressure?
you either have a bad gauge or a big leak somewhere in the line or at the vacuum block.
where is the block hooked into?
