Default boost gauge? 0 at idle?

is this right? when off throttle completely it's 0

@ idle it's 0

on throttle a bit, just normal driving, about 7 vac, boost goes up to 12

i think it should be about 20-22in hg during idling. check your connections.

gauge is right out of the box.. hmm

only one connection, vacuum hose from gauge to intake manifold.

broken gauge

either that or huuuge vac leak...which is very doubtful so im guessing broken gauge too

If you're using a diesel-powered engine, that would be normal
If the engine is off, it will sit at 0, but if you've started the engine already, it should show vacuum..

i bet he is not taping it into the manifold and had it in line with his ic pipes that is the only way that is possible

yes he is describing what you'd see in front of the throttle body

You would not see 12 pounds of boost at half vacuum.

maybe it is one of those boost guages that doesnt have the vacuum on it too! just an opinion.!

i think you misread his poor grammar.

"on throttle a bit, just normal driving, about 7 vac"

thats the gauge following the bernoulli principle (higher velocity, lower pressure) in the charge pipe.

"boost goes up to 12"

thats the gauge reading the charge pipe
