Best thing to do for boost?

There is no "best" setup. You best and my best are probally totally different.

i mean "best" as best for the engine, not for numbers

Just pick up a used Greddy kit and go from there.

Re: boost on D16y8 (boostincoupe)
depends on what you are capable of, and what you want. What are you going to do with the car. Street car, prolly want boost quicker, going for more race and more power, then bigger turbo. Are you capable of working and custom fabing, do you have a welder on your hands or some who can? Custom kits are nice, cuz you piece it together with what you want, but there can be a lot of work too. Basically you need to give more info, or decide first on what you want, and even then, you'll get plenty of this one is the best or this one is.... i'd search setups, and dyno charts, and videos and decide what you want. I run a garrett, .48/.60 i can hit 15 psi at 3500-4000 on a d16. I love it, but the lag is definetly there, but its a kick in the @ss when it hits. I ran a 13.003 on khumo street tires. 2 in piping, dsm side mount, 2.5 downpipe, 3 inch rest. dsm injectors, uberdata, laptop and lm1. with plenty of other fun stuff. Good luck, happy boosting.

i use the car for daily driving, but i want a sleeper.. i dont have to define that, we all know what that means...
and id probably run it a few times down the 1/4mile, but that wouldnt be its main purpose..
I dont have a welder, or custom fab person - with the front mount, i think i have to cut the rad support (not a problem, i have a grinder)
plus im getting the impression that im going to need Hondata to pass emissions, this true?

Re: (EK-tacy98)
i know nothing of emissions, haven't gone that road yet, luckily. If you want a sleeper i don't think a front mount would be your answer, personaly. I'd agree though, that a kit would likely be your easiest method. Just make sure that you do use a different fuel management system.

is it cheaper to build your own kit or to buy a premade one?
ive got $1100 and i dont know if i should keep saving for the turbo & parts or if i should use it to prepare/build the d16 for the turbo

Before you turbo I reccomend you doing a compression test and making sure each cylinder is within 5% of each other. Some common things people do before boost are timing belt, water pump, head gasket, arp headstuds (to prevent headlift when boosting), and oil and oil filter, just basic maitenence things you wouldn't want to fail when boosted. Those are what I replaced.
