Default Boost creep problem

Hi!

I finished this summer my turbo build. It's a civc EK with a JDM b18c swap.

Setup:
- Full-race road race stage 1 turbokit(AC) with gt28rs .82 a/r
- Tial V44 WG
- Closed dump tube
- 3" thermal exhaust

So the problem began on my very first test drive. The wg was fully open, vented straight to the atmosphere. I had stock map. To my big surprise I got a boost cut at 11psi. I actuall didn't know what spring there was in the WG, but it turned out to be a small blue which should be a 0.5 bar according to tials own pages. This happened early in 2014.

I finished the build this summer, and I got a friend that welded a closed dump tube, a straight pipe from wg with a 90 degree bend before it enters the DP. This time I swapped the spring out for a 0.2bar, a small yellow. But I still have big problems to hold the boost. It does hit about 3.2psi of boost at 3300 rpm, but it just creeps to almost 6.8 psi right before 8000rpm. According to my logs I have 5.6psi at 6000rpm at WOT.

I have set my boost cut to 7psi right now. For example if hold it steady at 5500rpm and go straight to WOT, the boost just raises to 7psi(where it just cuts out).

What is the problem here?

You boosted to 11psi on a stock map on your very first test drive? You didn't think maybe back off the throttle or take it easy until you get it tuned?

Where is the boost source for the wastegate and what size hose?

No, I got a basemap from my tuner and I have setup the fuel my self. Long way from a stock map. I didn't know it was boosting that much, and that was on not too high RPM.

But besides that the source then was straight from the manifold with the supplied hoses and t-couplings from full-race. Now I have changed it to take source from my manifold(on the backside, from the brakebooster fitting) to Full-Race vaccum block to my wg.

Try running it straight from the compressor housing and see if that makes any difference.

SoI have to drill a hole in the compressor housing to get a source from there?

What pressure are you trying to be at? 3.2psi on a gt28 isnt much at all...

Or you could tap into your silicone coupler right off the turbo, so you don't have to drill anything.

Also, if your "tuner" gave you a basemap, and you have to dial in the fuel, then your "tuner" isn't a tuner.

I'm just trying to be at 3psi til I can get my car tuned. It's winter here in Norway, so I don't use it anymore.

NotARacist @Yeah I can try it. Also my tuner gave me the basemap so I could run my car and check for problems TILL I have time to get to the dyno. I have to drive 400km to the dyno. So the car isn't tuned yet. But it doesn't run on stock map either.

Just unhook the charge piping, then it will run on the stock map.

My question wasn't how to run stock map. I know how run it back to stock.

The hole point to run some boost is to check for problems, leaks etc. before I take the long journey to my tuner to get some time on the dyno.

Use a boost leak tester and then only remove one cooler so if it leaks you'll know where it can from ... Test it above what would be run after the tune

Could this be the reason why I have a boost creep? The dump tube is welded straight in to the dp. Not in the direction of the exhaust flow.
