Default boost creep problem

just noticed it today. is it possible that the spring in the (tial) wastegate got soft or something?

some facts*:
tuned last year, 15psi and 25 psi
lovefab sst
sc61
tial 40mm
profec b spec2
open downpipe, got the car tuned that way,
boost held steady and never creeped, until today (so like over a year). steady at 15 (low) and 25 (high) over 500hp

today- boosted at 15 and noticed that at aproximately 6800rpms, the the boost guage started to climb to about 20. then the profec turned red. any ideas?

the car was holding boost perfect until today.

i know the only way to fix this is to start troubleshooting and tearing **** apart, but where do i began.

could i have a leak , i dont know
could the wastegate be bad, i dont know
could the boost controller be bad, i dont know

what i do know is that somebody's probably had the same problem and fixed it.

try to eliminate the profec and run off of the wg spring, one of your vaccum line might have a crack in it.

hmmm, thats a good idea.

so, i got like an 11 pound spring. in theory i could just turn the profec off. and the motor(guage) should stay at 11psi, right?

well, taking the boost controller out of the loop didn't work. i turned it off and disconnected the vacuum hose from the top of the wastgate and it still crep.

kinda did hold at 11 for a little bit, but started to climb as the rpms got higher. went to about 20psi

my friend told me to take apart the wastgate and check the orange diaphram to see if it is bad or not, so that's what im gonna do next.

any help or ideas would be appreciated

Im the friend, LOL. Thats what i was thinking was the diaphram but no dice. He took the wg apart and the valve moves freely and everything looks good. I told him to throw it back together and give it another run. Maybe it was stuck a tiny bit open or jamed that way and he busted it loose taking it apart. Other than that i told him to try run the side port of intake vacuum rather than the compressor housing that its curently hooked up to. Trying to eliminate things.

how cold is it where you are at?? I've noticed that when the temps are lower (below like 50 or 60), I hit boost cut almost always. Simply: colder air=denser air=more boost. But when the temps. get above like 65-70+ I am right at 14.5 where I set everything at.

according to weather .com it feels like 52

i put everything back together....boost held steady at 15psi thru 3rd gear all the way up to 8200rpms. at 4th gear around 120mph and 65-7000rpms, it started climbing to about 18-19psi. same with 5th gear.

am i worrying to much or what.

That is crazy. My 40mm tial has not crept on me in the last 3 years.
Holds rock solid WG boost, and even w/ the controller in it will hold 30 psi to 9000+ rpm no problem.

it may just be the cold weather, 52 is about what it is here and I was hitting boost cut today. Mine is fine up till 3rd and 4th gear (since it gives more time for the turbo to wind up.) Plus, it would be doing the same thing as yours is (going higher than 15psi), except that hondata has a boost cut option which is set at 15 for me. I'd wait for a day where the temps. rise to like 70 and see if it still does it.

However the compressor housing is going to provide the most accurate source of vacuum to the wastegate. I would start checking any vacuum sources to the wastegate, replace all vacuum lines and see how it goes.

Also if it's an autometer boost gauge where does it sit when the vehicle is off?

for the above. Try hooking up another boost gauge (all shops have one) and see what it reads. it may be your boost gauge that you have.
