How often do you really need to change the boost?
</TD></TR></TABLE>
you need to modulate boost, with RPM...a boost controller can mean a 15 sec car to a 12- sec car...by controlling boost through rpm.

We've used the Blitz, AVCR, and Innovative, all work great but the Innovative does takes a long time to tune as you can play with gear selected boost levels, ramping, etc. (we didn't get them installed till late last season so I'm sure we'll be playing with them a lot more in the following months)... I'm good with just running MoTeC and using the integrated boost controller, hehe... Just my $0.02
Len,
Can you give more info on the built in boost controller on the AEM EMS, does it do what a lot of these expensive units do, such as the blitz?
Thanks
Gene
i'm interested in buying an avcr. i've heard people either love em or hate em. i heard these boost spike like crazy. i also heard the gear dependent boost control is a must for fwd. i need some input from an individual who actually uses one or has used one.

the blitz SBC is a very nice and simple unit. I would reccomend this unit for anything between 7-16 psi of boost anything more I think you need a dual stage or and gear dependent boost controller. Just my .02 cents. late

Ok, i have narrowed it down to either the blitz sbc-id or the apexi avcr. Anyone have an opinion. Its such a hard choice.
What does the sbc have to offer on the lines of gear based boost? Can anything be set remotley close to this?

I have never had a boost spike issue with my avcr. Had a little boost creep with open dpwnpipe, went from .5 bar to .53 and from .7 to .74
The gear dependent boost control is definetly sweet. It helped quite a bit when i went to the track. Still spun the tires like crazy, street tires, but definetly helped out.
I had trouble using the unit at first. I found the manual to be confusing. After spending some time reading the manual and playing with the avcr it became very user friendly. I have still to experiement with hooking up a push button for a timed increase in boost. In fact i think ill do that next week
The avcr definetly takes time to understand. my only complaint would be that when it hits direct sunlight you cant see the display too well. I have mine down low by the ashtray of my audo console so its not that big of an issue. HTH
