Boost controller with aem ems
Hello all, this is my first post. but im pretty much gona get straight to the point
Im pretty set on the aem ems. i would do the hondata but no one near me or even a little bit out of my range can tune with hondata. most of the local shops have used aem ems. so im gona go with that. Now i know that the ems has a built in boost controller and fuel correction settings (safc functions), since i dont have my own laptop and id like to controll the boost from inside the cockpit, you guys think it would be a wise desicion to purchase a electric boost controller, i was thinking hks evc.

I have yet to meet anyone who has ever used the AEM boost option. I still have the GMC boost solenoid that I purchased new in the box, but never tried that option. The AEM is gone now, and my car is running great !

I have the GM boost solenoid install but not using it due to my wastegate spring. My spring is for something like 11 PSI so no matter what I did the boost soleniod couldn't help me set the lower boost unless I get a different spring. But I wouldn't go for a HKS boost controller. The boost solenoid is around 20 dollars plus the pigtail I think around 5 dollars.

Definately use the EMS boost control. You'd be crazy not to as it is one of the ems' best features. As far as boost control without a laptop, you can set up a dash mounted switch to toggle between (I want to say 3) different boost settings. And definately get yourself a laptop there buddy - I guarantee that many adjustments will need to be made outside of the tuning that can be done on a dyno. Take the time to learn to use all of the EMS' features yourself and you won't end up being one of the people that sells the standalone because their car didn't run right. You'll be making more power than those people. Improper tuning can only be blamed on the tuner, ya know?

We'll if anyone wants the solenoid, I have one new in the box with the order slip still taped to the box. Hit me up!
I now run the DFI Gen 7. I was one of the first people around to get the ems and it was by far the worst investment I have ever made. Hopefully they have upgraded things and mage things a little easier. I could go on and on, but you could find everything in the archives. AEM has potential, but it was not there at that time.
Anyway's I wanna see a Honda, I repeat "a Honda", make some big numbers other than Supra's and DSM's on the AEM. And please don't bring up DRT!

I definately would like to see some high hp hondas using the ems too. I've been using the ems for a year or so on my all-motor b16 (I seem to have lucked out - no problems whatsoever), and now I'm in the process of building a big hp turbo two liter, so I'll post up some dyno charts later this summer.

Gee I wonder, is the quickest and fastest Honda in the world good enough for you?

We'll hello JP. How's everything going over at AEM?
Yeah he's got a fast car, i will never doubt that, but then again he's got the entire company backing him with all the help he needs.
Like I said, it was the worst investment I have ever made, and it has potential but was not there at the time. You can't argue with me about that, you of all people knew of the things I went through with the ems!
We'll besides that, good to see you on this board. And by the way, we are still using the ems on my brothers '97 Prelude!

I just hope it beats Bullish Racing. I'm getting tired of all the Supra hype and how great their motors are; alltough somewhat true, I just want Honda to dominate.
