blue smoke help
setup
sleeved block 83mm
cp 9.1
eagle rods
rev valvetrain
drag manifold
master power 50 trim turbo
car has ran good for 150 miles so far. i have been using sae 30 non detergent oil.
so my problem is that the car does not smoke while driving. it does smoke when i come to a stop and idle for a min. i will get a puff of blue smoke. also it does not smoke untill it warms up. but will smoke after its warmed up and i rev it. i checked my compression 190 across the board. plugs look fine too.
any idea what this could be? someone told me it might be my iol return line not being good enough? thanks

change it. how old is that turbo. oil could be seaping through the seals after it warms up. by that time the seals have expanded. otherwise, did you break it in properly for the rings to seat?

turbo was only used for about 3000 miles. i bought it new 2 yrs ago. but i did sit for about a year.
as far as i know i broke it in right. the tuner came to me and we started the tuning right away. my drain back is a bit restrictive i think. its the one that comes in a drag kit. basically just a elbow welded on the pan and a peice of hose runing to the turbo with clamps on it. its almost like oil is building up somewhere the when i hit the gas it comes out. there is no smoke at high rpm's

Try taking your turbo off, sealing off your return, and blowing in the oil inlet, see if you hear seapage or oil crackling out your exhaust side...
I've had the same problem a couple times with an almost new garrett 60-1.. Still had the same problem after it came back from precision..

make sure your drain line is really short an smooth, all down hill 100%. My car had that problem an it was cause i needed a shorter tube with a more drastic smooth bend, or else it would plug the system enough to let oil seep past your seals.
Like some mornings i would start my car, all is good right? no its when i start moving an it can be sucked through my Inter Cooler piping bends to my Intake.

ok so i pulled off the charge pipe today. no oil in it at all. so then i hit the throttle cable to rev it at idle. a puff of smoke came out of an exhaust leak between the turbo and down pipe. i fixed the leak, but is it possible that the seal is blown on the exhaust side of the turbo?
