Default Blow off valves

This may be a stupid question but i eventually will have to ask someone so which brand and type bov's make the studdered sound... i have a dsm right now and it is really high pitched psst. Is the hks ssqv make the multiple discharge sound?

I know this should be in forced induction but i am not allowed to post there and i want to buy soon... Thanks

Just take off the BOV and put on a block off plate.. you'll get that exact sound..

It's called compressor surge, and it's not good.

who cares about the sound it makes get whats best for the car. My friend has a wrx and got a turboxs bov and later found out that its bad for the car if he doesnt get 2 more parts inorder for it to run better without hurting his ride.

Its funny cause ive heard some hks ssqv make a swoosh sound, some make the quick chirp, and some studder....It has alot to do with what turbo you have, intercooler, how you have the bov set, where the vacuum source is...

Like the car in this vid has the hks ssqv and it sounds how you want...He probably has it set to tight http://videos.streetfire.net/s...2.htm

its teh HKS SSQV

it makes a flutter sound at lower boost <6psi and a solid chirp at higher boost levels... and also you can change the sound with different inserts....

The tial and HKS SSQS should be a good choice for you, and give you the sound you are looking for. If you are planning on boosting more than 12psi, than I would definately recommend the Tial.

Are you POSITIVE that he had an ssqv cause that sounds exactly like compressor surge? I "heard" that he didn't run a BOV for those runs...but that's what I "heard" from another post.

the exact same BOV will sound different for many reasons. The two main ones being how tight/loose/vaccum source is and the other being how many CFM this thing is pushing.

HKS SSQV can sound like compressor surge but it isnt... the vid you refer to may be compressor surge i dont know all the details on that but i run the ssqv and at low boost it definitley can be mistaken for 'cs'..

The way i know the difference is becuase you can feel comrpessor surge in the wheel like a vibration and the engine feels different than when its blowing off regulary...

Yeah im 100% sure....

Watch this video....These cars have no blow off valve at all,,Sohc Rb30,t3/t4 turbos,Huge intercoolers,etc,etc.....http://www.juji.net/car/vids/b....mpeg

90% of them over there with these cars dont run blow off valves and they have no problems,,but then again most have autos,,so that has alot to do with it....
