Default is this block salvageable for boost?

im not sure of the history of this block but it look kind of beat up, are the damages repairable?

It looks like it, as long as the sleeves have no cracks, and the mains were never overheated from a spun bearing. It should be decked so you don't have any issues with coolant leaks, or oil seepage from those crankcase tubes. I definately wouldn't run it w/o decking, since the iron sleeve tops look too corroded for a quick scotch-brite pad.

my intentions were of decking it, but would i need to fill in the aluminium where its been chipped off?? does it need to be decked flat?

your machinist should be able to fix that or take the block get it welded then resurfaced. i would talk it over with who ever does your machining. if you dont have the block welded you may have to take alot off the deck surface. i would want to take as little as you have to off the deck surface.

any one who welds aluminum can fill that in before it gets decked.

awesome, thanks guys. just one more question though, am i looking at allot for the repair? i basically got it for dirt cheap.

i had a block like that costed like 15$ extra to get it welded.
