Ok, I'll admit it... I haven't done a search or much reading, but I'm VERY interested now. Has this method of sleeve re-enforcement a new thing or have people been doing it for a while ?

Is this method supposed to compare to sleeving or is it a cheaper, less sturdy alternative ? It does sound (for what I've seen so far) like a viable alternative to sleeving ! Is there anyone already running a block posted setup ?

Posting is not really a new trend. It is usually empoyed on open deck engine such as our Honda blocks. I have run a few posted D series blocks in my days. It works really well and I would always choose posting over a blockguard. But I would choose sleeveing over posting.

You should not confust the use of posting versus sleeving (ie GE sleeves). Posting supports the stock bores in the points of high loading, this helps control bore shifting. If you need sleeves.....you need sleeves. Posting will can not subsitiute in that case. Sleeving replaces the weaker oem bore assembly with stronger iron sleeves and also has tabs to control bore shifting.

Posting
GE sleeving

found some info from http://www.homemadeturbo.com/ZC.html

The Block has had alot of work done to it. Bored .20 over, The sleeves has been O-ringd, and Endyn Did block support (posting) using Aluminum Studs to support the sleeves under boost conditions, this is what Larry Widmer uses on his 25psi Daily Drivin Civic. These are Alot better then blockguards since they dont take away the cooling from the top of the cylinder.

You Can see in this Pic where the Posting was done at, Their are a totaly of 12 studs. Looks like they sealed it with a epoxy or JB weld.

Yes, you drill through the cylinder wall in 12 locations (see my picture above).

I'll have more info later this week. My block is at the machinist getting drilled/tapped as I type this.

The posts are being made by a machinist friend of mine and I hope to have them this week as well. If there is enough interest in this process, I can probably sell sets of posts to make this process easier for anyone else who wants to try it.

The pic above is my block, after having the posting pinning support done I took it back to my local machine shop. Even with the studs only torqued to 1inch pound it slightly shifted the sleeve. How much? god I am not a machinest so I dont know, but the guy who did all my work is a true professional and said that Posting/Pinning should be done BEFORE you get your block bored/honed.

The Studs are the exact same alloy as the honda block so it can heat up/contract the same amount.

Supposivly Nascar uses this in alot of their open deck blocks.

So far so good with mine, I have only taking it up to 14psi, still waiting on my custom turbo manifold and 900cc injectors.

sonny

Can you use bolts made of aluminum?

Do you you think posting a block with stock bottom end will hold 1.0 bar? (B16A)

Thanks

$400 to install? Wouldn't eagle block re-sleeving be better for $750. Drilling the holes thru the block is kinda scary.

no offense to anyone that did that, but i would never drill holes in my block for posts and JB weld it up... That just seems way to rigged for my taste.

Nobody has demanded that you be a test dummy. That's what some of us are here for.

I probably wouldn't try this on a GS-R or Type R block, but my D16A1 was 99 bucks at Pick N Pull.

Not yet...I hope to have the posts and the machined block by the end of this week. I hope they finish on time, but you know how that goes.
