Default block ok to use?

i recently was given a b18c bare block which has a chunk missing to the bottom of cylinder 1. ive heard that it was ok to use and that it wasnt. I have also heard that it looks similar to block notching so it will be fine. i need some input if it is ok to use and also if it is ok for boost?

reference picture not actual but similar

So the "chunk" is on the outside of the block?

^^no look at the bottom of the cylinder on the left were the rod has hit it.

op, as long as the bores straight and not cracked and the main bores are ok it should be good to use. you could also look into sleeving it.

looks like the rod bearing spun and the rod was hitting the bottom of the cylinder. how far up the bore does it go or is it just at the bottom of the sleeve? if its not too far up the bore and theres nothing to damage the piston it should be ok. take it to a machine shop, they will be able to tell you forsure.

fill the rail in with weld and sand the bore where the rod hit
an run it like you stole it!
