I would say keep the b16. If you are shooting for 350-400hp you will need to do internals to whatever engine you choose, so might as well use the one you got.

And an LS block isn't? He's gonna replace the pistons and rods anyways, so he might as well get some good torque out of it.

well im my opinion, i would use A VTEC block prolly the gsr. but i would put a LS crank and use GSR equivilant Eagle rods. and have custom pistons made wit hthe wrist pin move up so the piston wont hit the head.

with this senario, you gett 100% durability of your vtec oiling system (for vtec engagement) and you get the low end tq of a ls with a decent rod to stroke ratio.

Oh and you also get to keep the blockgirdle that normally comes in the GSR (stiffins the block for high rpm.)

also remember the kinda unwritten rule (more displacement = more power.)

A 1.54:1 rod stroke ratio is hardly different from a 1.56:1 rod/stroke ratio. Having custom pistons made for a 350 WHP motor when he's on a budget is nothing short of retarded. Courtney Green runs a stock length LS rod with an LS crank in his LS/VTEC that's made over 800 WHP on gasoline, but what the hell would he know anyways.
