I came here for advice.. the only person I'm disagreeing with is the putz that told me to not boost my car
my theory is, if the ignition timing is setup properly, and the fuel is rich from the start.. then all I need to do is watch AFR via wideband and pull fuel until it's right..
so many of you guys say dyno tune is the only way, otherwise you'll blow up your car.. if you don't tune or have experience with a street tune then you shouldn't be replying to this thread..
this thread is the major reason I only come here to sell parts.. you're all bandwagon enthusiasts who take everything you read here like it's written in stone for the masses. </TD></TR></TABLE>
just for the record
your an *** hat and obvious that you have no clue about tuning
don't be so quick to sum of all of H-T in one little post

well i see it like this
a "blind tune" would be calling up a shop and saying "I have boost, need tune" and them mail you a "pre tuned" chip and your all hell ya I'm tuned! only to blow your motor in 2.5 seconds.
a "base map" would be an estimated guess as far as fuel and timing for a specific setup of variables. this is used as a base in properly tuning and might give the customer/person/yourself tune needed to get yourself to the tuner. (from your house to there and only 2500 rpm to stay safe) It's a base map
a "street tune" a base map that has been cleaned up on the street. no dyno runs here. this is the "as close as you can get without hitting up a dyno" tune. this would be your "tune without a dyno"
a "tuned" setup is a car that is in tune as close to perfect as possible think about it... if it's not perfect than it is out of tune. the only way to accomplish this is to go to a dyno and have a professional tune it.
i understand where you coming from on the not wanting to buy hondata but do you want to have a convenient tuner or not?
and good luck getting your

i just don't understand the reasoning... why invest all of your time and money into something just to half *** the one thing that determines it's outcome???

With that being said, xenocron and phearable offer blind tune maps to get customers on the road, at least until they can get to a tuner. This is what I mean by a blind tune, for the weaker minds, such as bailhatch.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I'd say you're the weaker mind, asking questions like these and reacting so poorly to a little humor.

tuning timing without a dyno is pretty tricky... you would need extra hardware like an egt, extra spark plugs, knock sensor...
then again you dont NEED them...
im the cheapest person in the world and wanted to avoid paying for dyno time but i have come to the conclusion there is no other way to reliably tune timing. and no other way to extract power from timing. (i had someone "street tune" my car, and they didnt even adjust the timing tables... needless to say they didnt get paid.)
ive also found there arnt many tuners here on HT that like to talk about tune theory. most put food on the table with their skills. i found a lot more information and helpful members on other sites. (also check out the Tech/Misc section here)
check out pgmfi, turbod16... i had some interesting articles on street tuning but lost them 2 days ago in a formatt. sorry i cant be more help.

But only when you're the single kid "learning".
99% of the time, a basemap (I've never heard anyone here use 'blind tune' until today) will have very conservative timing. Run too much boost, and you could be raising EGT's due to having too much ignition retard.
You can street tune a car if you can detect knock (hardware or a 'det can'), then back timing off a bit. Ideally you'd extract 5-20% more WHP while being safer if you do that on a dyno, since you'll be able to see exactly where it starts loosing WHP from too much retard.
And please don't act like hot **** if all you have is a 'blind tune' & haven't melted piston yet. There is a big difference between an untested basemap and a 'finalized' street tune.
