Default bleeder-type boost controller bad?

i bought a turboxs standard boost controller because i've heard nothing but praise about it. after reading a post on here, i emailed turboxs and asked them if it was a ball/spring or bleeder... and bleeder it was. i read somewhere that having a bleeder type boost controller is more prone to boost spiking and increases turbo lag? anyone know if thats true?

Bleeder type MBC's bleed off the boost signal going to the wastegate to control boost, so you're losing boost there.

why would it be a problem if i lose boost with it? i dont see how unless it bleeds it out into the atmosphere, but either way... i could just up the boost more.

That's what bleeder type MBC's do, bleed the boost signal to the wastegate off to the atmosphere before it reaches the w/g. You probably aren't losing MUCH boost, but that's where it goes. I don't see why a bleeder type MBC would increase turbo lag. It may not spool as fast as ball/spring type MBC, but it should spool faster than with no MBC.

The ball type don't let the W/G see any boost until a certain level is achieved, then all at once it opens the wastegate. This is nice because the W/G isn't opening the entire time the boost is building.

The bleeder type basically work just like the current wastegate except they let it see a little bit less. The waste gate starts opening slowly right from the get go basically. It keeps seeing more and more boost as the boost builds and opening slowly as the boost increases.

You're really not loosing anything, but instead not gaining as much as you would have with the ball type. The ball type allow the turbo to hit the max boost you have set more quickly.

I know I probably didn't explain this real well, but that is how I understand it.
