It's not that simple. Tube and fin can work ok.

I personally am not a big fan of them but some of these cheaper intercoolers have worked well enough for people. If you budget only allows for something like that and your power level does not warrant more, you should be fine with something like that... given it is pressure tested and all is well.

x2. I have a nice Spearco core tube and fin that has done quite well for me in fact. I wish I had some IAT logs handy to show on paper but I dont... its done well enough to support PLENTY of power in some very warm summer conditions.

Thats bar and plate which is the preferred design, however it's Freaking huge... which obviously won't be the worst thing in the world.. what are your power goals?

Overall Size 28" x 9" x 2.75" is not freaking huge at all. A precision 750 core alone is 24"x11.75"x3.5", my custom measures almost 36" in length ........

^ He hadnt' stated power goals and I assumed if he was cheaping out on major components like an intercooler and didn't know the difference between tube/fin and bar/plate that they were not too high... if his power goals were 200-300hp that I/C would be freaking HUGE...

And a precision 750 isn't exactly and example of an average sized intercooler... it's good for 700hp for gods sake.

A 21x9x2.75 core is not oversized, especially coming from Egay and especially when the site only rates it to 350whp

Personally buying an Intercooler rated at 350whp for your 350whp build (if that is what he is going for, using as an example) is pointless why be on the edge of what it can support? The time it takes to fill the larger intercooler will be negligable and your IAT's will thank you.

You dont run a 350whp fuel system for 350whp do you? No you make the system larger so you are not running on the ragged edge.......

I used the Precision measurments as an example, and it is because a 24x12 core if far from rare and not really large at all, I had a 24x12x3" core from Greddy on my car 8 years ago for 250whp and saw no adverse affects with it.
