Big Turbo b18c1 SLEEVE HAIRLINE CRACK
Hey everyone I just noticed in cylinder 4 i have a small crack in my sleeve. Im about to send my block out to the machine shop, but is this crack something to worry about? I have a block guard around where the crack is. Do i need a new block? Thanks in advance

Yea any type of crack is bad. if it's small and you keep using the block as is eventually that little crack will become a big crack.
why a blockguard? they've been proven to offer 0 benefits and actually do more harm than good, between warping cylinders to cooling issues. a few brands are actually decent but most are ****.
if the block came with one then I understand. removing them is an absolute bitch. my friend gave me an ls vtec that had a blockguard in it... it was properly installed etc. but to remove I risk damaging the block. if you have the right tools and a steady hand they can be removed in sections with a dremel tool and a small hand saw.
if you send that block to be sleeved whoever you send it to will normally charge extra to remove a blockguard

another option is just to drop in some darton 200 or 300 series sleeves which can be bought for under $250 & cost about $250 to install.
it's all up to you on how much power you want to make now, and down the road.
