if the flywheel had too much taken off it, it ENGAGE.... this isnt DISENGAGING... so that would mean the flywheel is too large... which isnt the case because its 2 thou off what they call for....

Didnt you say they called for 110mm and the fly was 112?

i put $$$$$$$ that its the clutch its self, most likely PP. dosent make sence that it would all work then just not. that means all the linkages, hydraulic parts etc are ok.

we have to look at what changed between working to not working. only the clutch kit and flywheel. i highly doubt the flywheel was shaved that much to cause that much of an issue.

i would toss that kit and get something else. dont know your reasoning for using that specific clutch. but i have never had a problem with ACT. but thats just my opinion

i had this problem on my d-series when i switched from an oem clutch to a 6 puck. for me it was that my clutch pedal needed to be adjusted. what you should do is check under the dash at the clutch pedal. there is a 12mm nut that you turn to adjust the pedal placement. try that and see what happens.

no, if too much is taken off the flywheel then the pivot cant move the release bearing far enough into the pp fingers to release it.

all this time and money wasted you could've just purchased a new clutch and been done with it or send it back for a replacement.. i hinted the flywheel idea but you seem pretty confident, so that leads to bad clutch.. that would be the last thing..

well, before i send my PP back to competition, im gonan try a brand new master and another brand new slave.... if that doesnt work, the stock one is goin back in, and im shipping the PP back to competition...
ill also take my flywheel to get checked again, just for arguments sake ill take it to 110thou instead of 112..

well...... i understand you wanting to try all avenues but in reality you didnt have a problem until you put that clutch in. you didnt have a prob with the slave or master before right?? so why waste the time/money on makin excuses for that clutch? know what i mean? not sayin your doin a bad thing but spending more time and money to correct a problem is not your responsibility. you have put too much effort and time already into makin this thing work it really seems that the problem is the clutch itself. i would honestly seek another avenue if i were you..... but im not.. so do what you wish but i would ditch that and start over with somethin else.

i think the main thing to focus on with any diagnonstics is WHAT CHANGED before and after the issue at hand?

the only thing changed is the clutch and flywheel.

i dont believe the flywheel is the problem.

if you think it is i have one you can try that i have no prob with shipping you to try. at your expense of course an untouched flywheel also to add

It's almost a guarantee that the master and slave cylinders are original from factory, been abused with an ACT, etc...
That being said when you go from say a 1400lb clamping force clutch to say a 1900lb clamping force clutch, what do you thing takes the extra pressure, it's the slave and master, that is why it could be them. They are definately not to be narrowed out right away. Personally they would have been the first things I would have changed.

You best hurry up with this thing Ryan, PEI is comming fast. If all else fails do you still have your old ACT?

ok, just as i suspected, the master and the slave are both good... I replaced them both... same problem...

so then I ripped it all back out again, with the intention of putting the stock one back in for now...

and i discovered the problem...
the disk appears to be too large for the pressure plate...

now, i did verify the part number for the disk with competetion clutch... and it was correct.. and the dowls on the flywheel match up perfectly with the pressure plate...

So im stumped.. but this is definetly the problem... no matter how perfect you try to allign it, it has to be like to the half mm perfect.. and it just doesnt seem like its gonna happen... I tried it again, keeping it perfectly centered when I snugged the PP bolts down... and once again... (5th time changing the tranny this week) SAME PROBLEM...

back to OEM for now, till i get this problem resolved... my 2 options are to send it back to competition, or get a machine shop to machine the outer edges of the disk...

Wow all of this problem traced back to the clutch itself, i had the strongest feeling it was. Glad you got it figured out though... sounds like the time to get a different clutch.

in the pics you can clearly see around the outer edge of the PP where the disk was hitting it when it tried to spin
