best block to start with for mad boostage
I'm gonna buy a block this summer and start to build a ***** to the wall set up. I'm doin it this way so that I can buy it in parts as money comes in instead of all at once with a swap, which I'd have to take apart to build up anyway. But anyway, price and availability aside, whats the best block to start out with. It's gonna get sleeved and bored so displacement isn't really much an issue. I was thinking a gsr, as I wouldn't have to mess with ls/vtec conversion parts and it's already got oil squirters (im pretty sure the gsr's do anyway). Also one more quick question, can I put an LS crank in a gsr block? Anyway downsides to doing so?

I would start with the gsr block. Just dont get a bare block, try to get the sensors and stuff with it because that kinda stuff is a bitch to track down. Also, get it sleeved if you really want to run some high boost.

think just a complete shortblock would be better? i guess i could always sell the stuff in it i didn't need. it's just a larger chunk of money i gotta spend at once. gsr shorties are what a grand? and you can get a bare block for $400. by the way you can come help me build it. cuz i dont have a clue what im doin. hahaha

I would just get the short block. If you dont mind hunting around boards and junkyards for little parts you could save yourself some money. If you are doin the build in the orlando area I would be more than happy to come by and help out and have a couple

I would say get the whole engine first but it's your call. If it were me I would buy either a B18c1 or a B16a. I'm not too familiar with Orlando but if you ever need a reputable shop give Secret Services a call. They are located in Pinellas Park / St Pete.
