Hello my name is Sean,

I bought a block from a friend that Benson built for him. Well im having some trouble. I put it in and it smokes a bit. So we took the engine out and found out that we need some piston rings. Well i have been going through a lot to find HELP!! It is a d16a vtec with a 78mm bore and cp pistons.. I have called just about everyone... Called cp pistons, Benson, another guy that cp referd me to .... and everyone one i talk to needs the paper work on the pistons... I dont have any. I talk to the guy who i bought the engine from and he said that he doesnt have paper work.... Im kind of stuck.... can someone please help me sorry

I think if you don't have the paper work, you will have to go through someone other than a company, b/c they can be bastards. Usually individuals on here are more of a help.

if you find the size of the piston, shouldnt you be able to buy piston rings that size?

 

Are you positive they are 78mm pistons? That is HUGE for a D block. Take a ruler and measure across the top of the block to make sure it looks close to 78mm's. I can get you whatever size rings you want but 78 just does not sound right.
I will ask Benson if he has ever done a 78 block.
