Default basic EMS questions....

alright, i am about to purchase a wideband and a chip burner. I am wanting to tune it with crome. I have a d16z6. Do I use the p30 basemap to tune with beacsue i thought it was for the b series motors; and if i load a p28 basemap, then i dont have boost features. so i use the p30 map?

then once i load the p30 map, it's setup for a b series motor im assuming, how do i convert all the values to a d16 basemap to get started with? OR even better yet, could i get a good p30 map that is basemapped for a d16 stock internal, greddy turbo kit, FMIC'd and DSM 450's? if so, where?

I hate to bother everyone with all these questions, but i cant seem to use the search button too well. I dont know what the problem is..lol......maybe there isn't any info....anyways.....thanks for ALL the help before hand!

http://forum.pgmfi.org would probably be a better place to find an answer to this question. If you can get the scalars identical to the P28 map, I don't see why you couldn't transfer the fuel and ignition values from the P28 map to the P30 map.

Also make sure that you have the most current version of Crome with all the plug-ins. I haven't really been in the loop lately, but they may have added boost support to the P28 rom recently.

Questions that don't get answered have probably been asked and answerd 50 times already or they are discussed in the Wiki.

At any rate, use the damp P30 .bin file and import the P28 fuel/timing tables and tune accordingly.

This is what i did as well. Opened the p30 map and imported the p28 tables. Just make a new p28 rom. The go to file > export tables > Save as p28stock or whatever. Then go to file > new > p30 > file > import tables > Load the saved p28 tables (p28stock or whatever you named it). After you've done this, save the map as p28boost-1 or whatever as your starting basemap for now or for the future. Then add the boost and any other frill/gimmicks that you want in your map, and save as p28boost-2 (so you can always revert back to old maps if you mess one up learning). Never change the first map, only change revisions like p28boost-2, p28boost-3, ...etc you get the point. Good Luck!
