basemap question
If I have a stock gsr turbo with 450cc injectors and walbro 255 fuel pump with chipped p28 with a basemap will I need a FMU? I just need the base map untill it gets tuned also would I need a missing link? thanks
if you got a turbo basemap on your setup. you wont need a fmu or missing link.
you would want to get the car tuned asap with the basemap. dont go around racing people or doing top speed runs

no, the base map is the map for the engine..
meaning if its a blank chip, you add the map for an LS or GSR, or D16, or B16..
basemap is just the OE map for the OE engine. It will get you where you need to go OUT OF BOOST..
the chip is usually blank til the tuner can burn your settings to it. (overwriting the basemap)

A basemap is an map burned or loaded to an ecu that is specifically modified for your vehicle & its modifications. A basemap is used for stock or highly modified motors.
thanks and the injectors are fine im not trying to do crazy numbers and yup im going to get it tuned just wanted to know if I needed a fmu or missing link if I was gunna use a chipped ecu
The basemap you have already accounts for the larger fuel injectors. The larger injectors, in conjunction with a proper basemap, will give the engine the amount of fuel it needs.
In contrast, an FMU is used with stock injectors and uses boost pressure to increase fuel pressure at the FPR. This in turn adds more fuel to the engine. It is a very dumb way of tuning and can be very unreliable since you're pushing stock injectors to 150-200% duty cycle under boost. If one of them hesitates, even for a millisec, the engine is toast.
FMU = F**ks Motors Up
