Balancer shaft belt removed "H22"!!!
when i finished bulding my h22 (Je pistons & eagle rods) and started it every thing was running smothly but when i drove it VTEC was not starting even though my vtec test light was on, so i opened the vtec solenoid and saw Metal Shavings in the filter, i cleand it and tested the car the vtec started first but it didnt at the second time, so i opened the solenoid and again there was Metal Shavings. i found out later that it was the balancer shaft and i removed the belt flashed the oil and every thing is working fine and without vibration so can i keep it like this.

Re: Balancer shaft belt removed "H22"!!! (CiViC SiR)
have ran for 5k+ without balance shafts so far and still running strong on my stock internal H22. Dont think u should have any problems running without. Worried about your metal shaving problem though. had a friend that had the same problem. It was oil deprivation. The balance shafts ended up seizing and snapping the belt. Then the valvetrain went. so be careful and good luck.

Quick question, i thought h22's needed sleeves because of the cylinder wall material? I thought forged pistons scored the cylinder walls? Just asking. I am by no means a know-it-all. Or a know-anything for that matter.

i took mine out also, hell i have taken them out on every h22 i have ever did.but i also blocked it "the oil passges that lead to the balancing shafts.i only have oil going to the rods and mains.you gain a little 5-8 hp.you can also tell a night day difference when you change the crank pully also.
