Is a balanced crank REALLY that necessary?

My head, block, and crank are at a machine shop now being finished today. The crank will take another 2 days (approx) to be balanced with my new pistons/rods, etc. (The crank is cut already)
Is this really necessary? I know it's better, of course, but are there any major disadvantages to not doing this? I'm on a small time constraint and these extra couple of days is gonna kill me.

yes it is . . . one of my friends had a b18 in a crx, with a lightwieght flywheel . . . . . . ran fast as hell . but messed up the bottom end . he sid it was because he didnt spend the money to get the crank rebalanced. . . its a shame . becuase that stock motor in that car did 14.6 1st time on the track . it was a strong car
just think about the kind of forces being exerted on the journals, and now imagine that the counterweight on one of the crank arms is higher than the others by a mere 10grams, multiply this by 10000rpm and tell me that is not something you want balanced.
