Default Balance and Blueprint

I'm completely rebuilding my block right now, and have the opportunity to balance and blueprint my block for a little bit more. Is it worth it?

found it!

Blueprinting involves machining all components of the engine to precise
specifications and clearances.Bearings, pistons, rings, are all chosen to be
as close as possible to each other in demension and then the block and other
parts are machined to give the proper clearances. Even the heads are
thoroughly gone over for equal chamber sizes, equal spring pressures, etc.

Balancing is accomplished by making all parts which move with the crankshaft
of equal weight. The pistons are equal to each other, the connecting rod pin
ends are made equal, the big ends are made equal, etc. The total weight of a
piston assembly, through some formulas, is used to make up weights along
with some figures for oil weight. The weights are then placed on the
crankshaft throws and the crankshaft is spun on a balancer. Weight is either
added (by way of heavy metal) or removed by drilling into the counterweight.

yeah, i was pretty lucky, my H22 is blueprinted... well, sort of, i didn't have to machine anything luckily, i took to it with a feeler guage and dial indicator. everything came out excelent and i didn't have to get anythig extra machined

... how much is a little bit more?

... also, how much does everyone else think is a good deal for balance and blueprint of an engine?...

I think its kick *** if you can get it done...the blue print part is really expense (or so I read) and the return in HP is not worth the money spent..

maybe the hp isnt worth the money spent but it will increase the life of your motor. Its just a good idea to make sure everything is working well together before you put your motor back together. Your motor is only as strong as its weakest link.

Sleeve your block first so you don't ruin it when you do go to sleeve it.

he means the blueprinting, this was discussed a few times, that whne the block is re-sleeved it causes stress and can cause slight warpage that can be fixed by machining, but if you blueprinting it BEFORE having it sleeved, you run the risk of having to have all that done all over again

I'm going to be paying $3000.

That includes:

Sleeving the block
ARP studs
Bearings
Labor and installing into the car
Motor mounts
Balance and Blueprint
Headgasket
