Bad ? Eagle rods...
Where is the homepage for eagle rods? Does a different manufacturer make them?
Rebuilding my bottom end and ive gotten 3 people telling me that honda rod bearing will work on eagle rods. And ive got 3 people telling me honda bearings wont work.
The code on the rod is CRS 5430 C if that makes a difference...

Correct, Honda bearings work with Eagle rods. Exospeed assembles motors with Honda bearings on Eagle rods, and I run Honda bearings on my Eagle rods.

ok cool. Honda bearings it is.
All the bearing are the same for all B motors right? I get more then half off at honda so i was going to order all the bearings for a civic SI or a del sol dohc vtec.
Im running a 98 gsr motor.

Better question... I used the Honda code way to figure out my honda main bearings. (need 4 browns and 1 black) But how do i get the bearing code with the honda crank and the eagle rods?

When picking rod bearings for a Honda, you use a code stamped on the rod and the crankshaft. The code on the rod is a number (1,2,3,4) and the code on the crank is a letter (a,b,c,d,e). These codes represent the dimensions of the rod bore and the journal diameter. By putting these codes together (A1, B3, D2, etc...) you get a color from the factory service manual that represents the correct (possibly) thickness of bearing to order from Honda.

awesome dude, thats just the info i needed thats how i 'measured' for the mains but the aftermarket rods obviously dont have the code stamped on them

Honestly, Eagle rods have pretty loose tolerances. A manley or Pauter rod I could see being a #3 but Eagle rods are all over the place from what I have seen. Plastigauge them to be sure!!!

Re: (nfn15037)
Anyone else have any info on this?
Ive never plastigauged, but i get theo hole concept of putthing the plastigage in then torqueing the rods on, the measuring the plastigauge. When you get the measurement, how do you know what color honda bearing to use?

Re: (adictionbass)
I have not heard of, nor experienced Eagle rods that were "out of tolerance". However, if you plastigauge, and find the clearances a little too loose or tight, each color of Honda bearing changes by .0002". Therefore, if you have a plastigauge measurement of .0017" and you're after .0015", change from a yellow bearing (for example) to a green one. Also, if you're out by .0001" (you measured .0018" and you're after .0017") you could use 1 half of a yellow and one half of a green to achieve your desired clearance.
These are only examples, and not intended to be specific recomendations for color selections. YMMV.

It all depends on how the end of the rod is sized and to some degree if any material has been removed from the crank journal.
