Default Bad Chip

So i think i fried my chip. Yesterday i was troubleshooting why my car wasnt starting and the guy i was workin wit told me to take the chip out and then put it back in. now me being the dummy that i am, may have put it back in backwards. now i had a distridutor while i was gettin tuned then it took a crap and i replaced it. so would i have to get a retune or just get another chip burned.
