Default Backpressure question?

This may be too vague but here goes.... All else being equal, which turbo will have less backpressure: Precision 6262 w/t3 .82 open exh housing or Precision 6765 w/t3 .82 divided exh housing? This is for my twin rear mount corvette.... It is a daily driver. Thanks guys p.s.... this forum has more info on these t3/t4 turbo's than any other forum i'm been on.... Mad Props to a great site!

well it looks like precision might not make a divided t3 housing for the 6765.... oh well....

you can get a divided housing for them.

as far as an answer to your question, the larger turbine is going to create less backpressure. honestly with your displacement, 2 6265 .82 open housing would be responsive and make stupid power.

i currently have two 6262's but am running into higher backpressure when i crank the boost up which is why i was looking to upgrade the turbine side as well as the compressor side..... i should have bought 6265's to start with but spilled milk.... thanks

The divided housing will make ur back pressure worse. An open housing has a more efficient and less restrictive flow. The divider wall tends to be more restrictive due to the additional surface area that causes losses with turbine gas flow and is mainly used applications where engine rpm is not high for more torque in the low and mid range. I drive an 03 evolution which uses the divided twin scroll factory and it makes its power down low. I peaks around like 4k rpm. The best way you could fix the back pressure issue which kills power is to go to a t4 or bump up the size in the exhaust ar size.

Precision just released a bad-*** 6466 billet which you might be interested in...

Give me a call and I'd be happy to help you out on this one.

U could also opt for a larger inducer diameter on your exhaust wheel that reduces backpressure as well if u didn't want to swap turbos completely.

Borg warner would probably be a better choice now with their new turbos out..

What power level are you at? whats your setup? I've seen over 800HP on twin 6262 T3 without issues on a vette.

I've done near 700rwhp at only 14 pounds with my old sts twin system... i just completed my new twin rear mounted system and it should put me right around 900rwhp at higher boost (22 - 23 pounds).... I'm guessing these turbo's would be pretty close to maxing out because of backpressure. I was looking to upgrade these 6262's t3 so i can hit the 1xxx+ rwhp mark! I know the 6765's will do it but i want to make sure it doesn't kill my drivability....

Great forum guys!

P.S.... i really admire what ya'll are able to get out of these little motors!!! I wish my V8 was near the efficiency ya'll run!! Big Props
