Default Backordered boost....preparation in the meantime

ok, i'm gonna be running a greddy kit on my d16, which has 80,xxx miles. of course with my luck, the kit has been on backorder for almost a month now, but it should hopefully be coming this week

in the meantime i have been prepping so i dont blow my engine the first day. just today i finished putting on all new belts and replacing the water pump. my entire cooling system has been flushed and refilled with fresh fluids. i also put in a new tranny and clutch about a month ago. tires are in good shape and suspension is good (might get some strut bars soon tho). i've done a valve adjustment as well. boost gauge already mounted with tubing running into engine bay. oil pressure gauge coming in soon along with new oil pan (slight dent in mine). i know someone locally who has an intercooler for me already too. i'll probably replace the oil return line the kit comes with with a steel braided one if i can figure out the fittings and crap. oh yea, and of course i'll run a compression test soon.

so, anything else left for me to do? even the slightest most minor thing would be good. i'm soo bored waiting for parts to come in and having nothing to do to my car. thanks alot for the help and sorry for the long *** post

Yup, backorders sucks. I didn't get my kit until 3 months after i put the order on it. I think the only thing you can do is start looking for more parts and decide whether you want to go with a stand-alone unit or not. Maybe a egt gauge, turbo timer, after-market clutch. Believe me, stock boost isn't going to last you for long.

I would say a Exhaust manifold Gasket from Honda
The CAT gasket, the part which it connects to the downpipe

i assume you got a catback exhaust already

High temp sealant? Locite Red? JB weld for oil return flange?

I would HIGHLY suggest a BREAKER BAR for your tool !
Soldering Iron? for your blue box connection

Engine Oil? Oil Filter? WD 40 when removing bolts?

I think that's all... check out http://www.turbocivic.net, lots of info already vvvvvvvery enough
i just followed whatever he said there, his OIL PAN Picture helped alot when you tap your oil return flange

Also, you will need oil pan gasket

i am checking all my Honda receipts for all the parts i bought for the turbo installation

NGK Spark Plugs 2 steps colder: http://www.clubplug.net

MSD spark wires?? or other spark wires

i think that's all i can think of right now

did you get the BOV steel flange?? u need it
find a welding shop to weld the flange for u.. hehehe.. that's all !!!!

Did you spray your engine bay down so when you get your turbo installed you can see for any leaks? Just a thought.

<---already did that, just waiting for my motor.

will the hondata gasket actually do anything? or is it just a precautinary item. does it outperform the oem one in any way?

spray down the engine bay? do u mean just cleaning? or something else?

yea i gotta remember to write a list of the gaskets i'll be needing to get.

whats the difference between the different color loctites?

thanks for the help guys. the kit should be coming in this week if i'm lucky

When you get your kit, remember to tighten everything tightly. A problem that I ran into was that I didn't initially tighten the wastegate or the turbo manifold as tight as I could. Cost me some nasty exhaust leaks and some blown gaskets. Tighten all the screws as tight as you can, or else all that pressure will fry your gaskets.

good luck though.

Get some quality anti-seize compound and put it on anything you might need to remove later. Loctite the manifold outlet flange studs and outlet adapter to downpipe studs. I then used anti-seize on when fitting the nuts to the downpipe and nuts that hold the turbo on. I have removed and fitted the whole kit a number of times without any trouble with leaks etc.

Have fun!

yeah, I got some advice from Art (arturbo) and it worked pretty well. I have the whole engine out so it wasn't too hard for me as I just covered the wires that were still in there and sprayed away after I rolled it out of my garage. Wiped everything down and it sparkles now.
