So I go up to 5000 rpms on fourth and my engine stutters, I get a check engine light and I hear backfire the odd times. At stops, my idle is irratic, from 800 to 1500, really fast. Once I get home, it smells like something might be burning (or that is how my engine smells, dont really know). Once I turn off the car, and restart it, the idling is fine and the cel is gone. What do you guys think happened?

 

its called missfiring.. your in limp mode.. you migh thave a cel 71 to 74 or some **** like that regap your sparkplugs

 

So its just my sparkplugs? What should the gap be?

 

So it happens again today. I restart my car, and the problem is gone. My friend shows me how to check the ecu for codes and I got a code 11 or a code 1. I think there is no code 11, so it is a code 1.
