back pressure

running a stock gsr t3/t4 setup, does the back end pressure matter cause rpm picks up faster with stock exhaust partially welded. thinkin of 3 inch straight pipe, too big?

my buddy has the same set up and he is going with a 3" exhaust to a turbo muffler
