Default b20 turbo build.

I blew up my turbo b18a. I Need to get out of it cheap. I was thinking about trying boost on 2 liters of inexpensive jdm b20b. Id like to know the compression ratio on a b20b is. does anyone know? Also has anyone tryed this idea , how did it work out. Reliabilty ? etc?

There is a b20 thread, check that out. Depending on setup and tune, anything can be reliable.

also i have a t25 turbo and 450cc fuel injectors and a b18 harness that im going to use. I had it chipped and basemapped. Is the .2 liter difference in the motor going to cause me to have to get it remapped.

you will prob crack a sleeve. a stock unsleeved b20 is not the best bet for turbo known for cracking sleeves

i would say that with a t25 and a good tune you should be ok.

i have seen people blow up fully built engines because of a bad tune, build, wg spike and so on. I have had plenty of friends running small turbos on stock b20s for years with no problems...

dont let people scare you. you have to understand that the b20 was made for DD on in a small suv with a transmission with long gears not to be ran at 4k at 60 or a big snail hooked up to it. so if it something does happen you dont be surprised. also a new b20b is 500 bucks... go at it and have fun.

bump ... and ummmm will the b20b run safely to the b18 redline? Will it even make power to that point? I know in crvs they redline at like 5000 rpms or something outrageously low but i didnt know how a 20 on an ls tranny would run or shift..... should i put the b18 head on it?

One of the biggest reasons im going with a b20b is (1) the $500 price tag. (2) the 90 day warranty (3) a b series two liter seems like cool torque.

also there is a good chance i will get a quality engine from an suv family car that was on an automatic tranny that has probably never seen more than 5k rpms vs a sport coupe engine that has probably been beat to hell.

some people rev it to 7800 on boost no mere than that so i think 7200 its good. im going on boost soon on a stock b20b with a fully built ls head

I ran 15psi on a T3T4 57trim 63ar B20B for over a year and about 15,000 miles. I didnt crack a sleeve. I was on Turboedit and running 450's with a VR4 fuel pump. It performed very well and I miss it dearly. Have somebody who knows what they are doing tune your setup with a wideband and prefferably on a dyno of sorts. If a dyno isnt available you can go ghetto style with some Det cans and a wideband and tune from there.

B18(LS) Head and B20 head are identical. Don't bother changing it to an LS head. Unless you have an LS head that is built already.

my friends b20 integra isnt boosted but its running a stock 98 integra ecu. its just got bolt on s header intake exhaust... and he revs that bitch out all the way out to redline everytime he drives it 7500 rpm soooo ur good... its ben like a yr and a half since we swaped 30k or more ago...... and the ls trany is fine on the b20...... it do nice burn outs lol
