Default b18b1 boost

i finally decided today what i want to do with my engine... i am going to start piecing together a turbo kit but have a couple questions about the engine its self. its has 140k miles on it, all stock mostly highway miles (65miles one way to work everyday) compression is good, no oil leaks, no burning, runs strong. before i would even think about bolting a turbo up i would change my timing belt, oil pump, water pump, tensioner. i would more than likly swap out my head bolts for arp's as well. my question is, is it a good idea to change out the rod bolts with arp's as well? i only plan on 250 whp maybe a little more. also if i did change the rod bolts would i need to get new bearings or?

250whp. well u seem to wana do things rite. i think 250whp on a stock bottem end is a bit to much and will end up blowin the motor. if ur guna boost it u should just get on ebay and find a rod/piston combo like 700bucks.
otherwise stock bottem end the most u would be able to make safly is rite around 200

I have no experience with the blox manifold but that sounds like a great price for a manifold with decent name stamped on it

I wouldn't reccomend the blox mani, I had one and the bolt on top of my wastegate that you run for a boost controller would hit my hood under a pull and I broke two bolts off in the manifold where you bolt the wastegate to the manifold, and your dip stick is blocked off from the wastegate being in the way. Save your money and get a nice ram horn. You'll like it alot better.

250 is more than fine on a stock motor with 140k miles.

**** i made 240 for about 15k miles on a stock motor with 215k miles. still ran fine the day i pulled it out and i reused the head in a different build.

just get a good tune and management system, run a colder plug and make sure you have some timing pulled. stay on top of routine maintenence and you will be fine.

ohh ps, get an aftermarket clutch

I'm running a blox on my car with tial 38mm gate and have no issues. Another friend has been running one for 3yrs with the same gate and no troubles either.
As for the oil dipstick yes it's kind of a pain but not a big deal really. Oh and to the op I made 256whp and 243tq on 10psi and 274whp on 12psi

^ great numbers thats exactly what im looing to get with about 10 psi. I have a question about tuning, im buying today a p75-A01 ecu, conversion harness, and pherable chip kit, what else do i need to tune? just a bung for a wideband or? also when i buy the chip kit, i dont know what my set up will be yet so should i hold off until i know so i can get a basemap to make it to the tuner or just buy it now with what i think ill have? im not sure of the turbo yet 57 or 60 trim most likley, but ill have dsm 450 injectors, a log manifold, 38mm waste gate, dsm bov most likely, walboro fuel pump, and ? it will be tuned on chrome gold by the way, one more thing, do i need a different map or can the stock 1 bar read up to 10 psi?

Blox manifold works good. Yes the oil dip stick is a pain but no biggie, good manifold for the money iv had mine on my set up going on 2 yrs. now with no problems. But if i was you just save for a tubular ram horn thats what im getting ready to do. Im making 400whp and 290tq on a straight LS motor with no VTEC! Ran a 11.7@ 122mph in the 1/4. The motor has Pistons, Rods, Block Guard and the head is built also. But good choice of motor i love mine and the Tq on the LS is awsome!
