b18b questions
i know mostly stock b18b cannot rev much becuase of the limits in the block and head design. but what exactly would need to be changed to allow a higher rev limit on a 94 b18b. I plan to turbo the car and want to use a turbo that will give me mostly top end (t3/to4e). Id rather stay away from smaller/quickly spooling turbo becuase it will be a street car on street tires and dont wont to have a useless 1/2/3 gear.
Im looking for around 320 at the wheel. Any one think this is not feasable on a stock block b18b tuned by a hondata s200?

Hwo much boost did u plan on running? Espanol made a little under 295 on 11 psi ls, hondata. Direp made about 275 on 12 psi same setup. If u want to rev higher and make more than 300 have u considered an ls vtec setup?

Re: b18b questions (quikB18B)
my main beef with the ls/vtec is that fact that i want to keep the bottom end as stock as possible. and i know reving the b18b bottom end higher than around 7500 would not be very relaible, especially on 11 pounds of boost.
i was thinking of something more along the line of some ef-1 FI cams, and reving to about 7500 with some minor head porting and maybe some arp rod bolts.
anyone else think this might help me get to my desired 320?

Re: b18b questions (94b18b1)
Porting the ls head would defintely help free up some flow that the ls head lacks, but take al the $ your spending on the cams and the porting job and why not get some good piston and rods, go ahead and do the ls vtec the right way. I hear yah on not wanting to rev to 8 grand on some ls rods. You can pick up a b16 head for like $500 bux and piston/rods another grand. This is only way i think you can get close to your goal. Just somethign to consider

yah i guess your right.
i fi were to blue print and balance the bottum end and use some forged internals, do you think there would be any problem reving to around 8500?

Well eventually my setup i want to go with gsr tranny/quaife lsd, type R head, ls block 10.1-10.5 compression hondata 550cc, hondata, 11psi. Do you have funds to maybe get a type R head?

my car has held together revving to 7500 for a good while now....I'm going to install some ARP headstuds and crank up the boost and retune for about 330-340 hp on stock internals..I'm excited to see how long it last..

Re: b18b questions (espano(ls))
Fix the LS head's flow problems above 6K with a little smoothing of ports and bowls.
Ditch the LS cams for anything you can find.
Those two, with the correct turbo and tuning should get you to your goal.
The local LS/VTEC and B20/VTEC kids use stock rods and rod bolts to 8500 rpms; my understanding is the rod bolt is not the weak part of the rod anyway, regardless of what everyone has said for a few years now. As for how well the stock bottom end would like high revs and boost at those power levels? I have no experience, and defer to those who do.
